About Aimee x Nurture and Wild

Learn a little about me, Nurture & Wild, my background, my passions and why I love birth, babies and early childhood.

The Hypnobirthing Coach

In August 2022, I had my beautiful little first born boy and he totally made my universe. He is the center of the entire world (as they all are!)

My birth completely rocked my world. Had I done hypnobirthing? No- Not really!

I had done 1x session of just 2 hours and the little one decided to come early! But what I had done is... I had somehow.... with very little knowledge.... stumbled - I repeat - stumbled...across the magic ingredient. OXYTOCIN.

I had watched The Yorkshire Midwives and decided to go for a home birth. People thought I was mad, but my instincts told me to do it. So I did! My husband supported every single decision. I finished work 6 weeks before baby's arrival and I just RELAXED as much as possible. I nested. I went swimming. I did yoga. I saw friends. I went for walks. I watched TV.

On 20th August, my waters broke at 5.30am and by 10.45am he was in my arms. Did I scream? Of course I did. Was it intense? Ohhhh yes! I was completely shocked and amazed by the whole birthing experience. I had no idea what it would be like. I was on cloud nine for months. I was desperate for anyone to ask me my birthing story. I cannot tell you how wonderful I felt. But I was shy about saying it too loud to too many people because I felt like I should be humble, or that I was 'lucky' and shouldn't tempt fate. I felt like it was disrespectful to other people's birth stories. But secretly (and I felt like it was a secret) I wondered what I had done - AND if I could do it again.

So, as a new mum in the small hours of the morning, I dipped into social media. While scrolling through Insta or Facebook, I came across even more positive birth stories like my own. And I came across hypnobirthing again. And I knew - it was that - it was the magic ingredient. And so I decided I needed to spread the word... and as others have said before me ... "hypnobirthing is too good not to share."

I completed my hypnobirthing teacher training in Spring 2023 with Love your Birth Training School.  The course is standout - the best out there; FEDANT accredited, 5 star. Since, I have worked with lovely local couples and fallen in love with helping others find the real secret to having a positive birth.

The Breastfeeding 'friend'

The journey into motherhood started with fireworks when my little one was born. And they didn't stop there. Into the world of breastfeeding we went.

And it was not plain sailing.

He had tongue ties. I had no idea how to hand express. I had no pump. My milk came in and I was so engorged because he could not latch. We had to push formula to fix the jaundice. I had nipple trauma for weeks. Woah! What a start. I went through A LOT of pain and tears in those first few months. I grieved for that dream vision of a nursing baby and smiling serene mother, which I didn't get. But I got help. And I read a lot of great advice.

Once I had begun offering hypnobirthing sessions, I decided to go on to complete the Level 3 Breastfeeding course,  I wanted to be that professional and knowledgeable friend to mums-to-be and new mums.

The N.E.S.T Associate

Newborn Education Services Training (N.E.S.T)

I'm an associate trainer for Newborn Education Services and Training (NEST). I give talks on their Postnatal Maternity Care courses, introducing Hypnobirthing and promoting the benefits. I tutor Breastfeeding groups - supporting them as they learn to be breastfeeding support workers themselves. What I love about NEST is that they offer a fresh, realistic approach to a career childcare in childcare, with no unnecessary padding. Like me, they have traditional values and modern principles, with a genuine understanding of newborns and their families.

The Teacher

My background is in teaching and I've always been proud to say "I am an Early Years Teacher" - I love the magic, wildness and freedom of young children.

I see children as completely capable individuals, with so much to offer the world. I love to inspire their confidence, freedom and creativity encouraging them to become exactly who they were born to be.
